Neuse River Networks assists Triangle United Way with the Teaming
for Technology program. Corporations have an opportunity to donate
their old PCs to Triangle United Way and realize a tax benefit.
Triangle United Way refurbishes the PCs and distributes the PCs
to qualified 501C3 non-profit companies.
Teaming for Technology is all about community Impact. Community
impact is improving lives by mobilizing communities to create sustained
changes in community conditions. It is about people coming together
around an issue of concern, taking action, and/or making people's
lives better.
Teaming for Technology aims to help bridge the digital divide in
North Carolina. T4T relies on our corporate and community partners,
donors, and volunteers to achieve community impact.
One recipient of the Teaming for Technology program is the Tammy
Lynn Center for Developmental Disabilities, located in Raleigh,
North Carolina, that offers educational, residential, and family
support services to children and adults with special needs. The
Center's goal is to provide the individuals it serves the opportunity
to maximize their abilities and potential. Organizations such as
this must have the infrastructure in place to continue to accomplish
its mission and is the purpose behind the Teaming for Technology
program.
Over the past year Jim has helped the Tammy Lynn Center along
with support from the Triangle United Way and Tech Soup to upgrade
almost 20 outdated work stations. Windows 98 workstations were upgraded
to workstations running Windows XP or 2000. This has been a major
undertaking for the Center since there are very limited resources
for Technology. With the help from Jim the Center can work more
productively and has cut down on emergency computer repairs and
down time. Gary Carr, Business & Finance Director, CFO,
Tammy Lynn Center.
